The Mattagami Region Conservation Authority (MRCA) is pleased to announce that Lake Shore Gold, a subsidiary of Pan American Silver, has made a generous funding commitment to support the ongoing maintenance and upgrades of the local recreational trail network. Over the next five years, Lake Shore Gold will contribute $350,000 to help ensure the continued accessibility and improvement of these popular trails.
As a key component of the community’s outdoor recreation, the local non-motorized trail network provides a free-for-use, passive recreational service enjoyed by residents and visitors alike. With well over 200,000 users each year, the MRCA is deeply committed to preserving these natural spaces, but ongoing maintenance and improvements require financial support. This donation from Lake Shore Gold plays a crucial role in helping MRCA meet these needs.
“We are incredibly grateful for Lake Shore Gold’s continued support,” said David Vallier, MRCA General Manager. “This generous commitment will ensure that our trails remain safe, well-maintained, and open for public enjoyment. It is a perfect example of how partnerships between community-focused organizations and local businesses help to improve our community for residents, visitors and for future generations.” MRCA relies on the generosity of donors and the support of the community to keep the community recreational trail network thriving.
Lake Shore Gold, a long-time advocate for environmental stewardship and community well-being, has been an avid supporter of the MRCA trail network for years. Their latest contribution reinforces their commitment to enhancing the quality of life in the community and providing access to nature.
“Lake Shore Gold is proud to contribute to the maintenance and improvement of these vital recreational spaces,” said Marcel Cardinal, Director of Environment, Sustainability and Security at Lake Shore Gold. “We recognize the importance of having accessible green spaces where people can enjoy nature, stay active, and connect with the outdoors. Supporting the MRCA’s efforts aligns with our mission to invest in the health and well-being of the communities we serve. Pan American Silver is committed to fostering positive long-term relationships in the communities where we operate.”
