Trail Disruption and Closure Notifications

The Mattagami Region Conservation Authority maintains a network of trails within the City of Timmins through trail agreements with property owners. During the spring, summer and fall months, all trails are regularly monitored for hazards. During the winter months, only the Gillies Lake Promenade and Hersey Lake trails are maintained.

Our trails have a hard packed rock surface that encompasses the natural geology of the area. Some areas have steep hills, rock outcrops and bridges over waterways. Many trails are in low-lying areas and will be wet after a heavy rainfall.

To report hazards such as washed out trail sections or trees across the trail, please use our online reporting page, contact our office via email or call us at 705-360-2660.

Effective October 14, 2022, the MRCA will no longer be maintaining this section of the trail. Trail users are asked to use the road side along Gillies St., Poplar Ave., Fogg St. N and Algonquin Blvd. to connect back to the Mountjoy Historical Conservation Area.
