You may require a permit from the Conservation Authority.
The Mattagami Region Conservation Authority provides a variety of recreational opportunities throughout the City of Timmins through its system of Conservation Areas and Community Trails.
NEWS and Announcements
The MRCA distributes a Watershed Statistics Report every 2 weeks from March 1 until the end of the snow melt. This report is based on information collected from snow course readings and dam operations. Read the Watershed Update or see our Upper Mattagami River Watershed Statistics page to download the report.
As part of our watershed monitoring, staff conduct snow surveys on the 1st and 15th of each month throughout the winter. This information is shared on our Snow Surveys page.
Recreational Trail and Hersey Lake CA Safety Alert: Large trees are blocking the road to the Hersey Lake Conservation Area. Trees are falling throughout the trails due to the heavy ice. Staff will remove trees once it is safe to do so. Please stay out of the Hersey Lake CA and off the recreational trail system until we have a chance to evaluate the damage and safely address the issues.
